David Hundeyin Accuses Pidom Nigeria of Being a Government Puppet and Fraud

Let me start by confirming that the person behind the account is indeed the original owner. However, it’s now clear that this individual has been completely co-opted by the government. Whatever intentions he may have had at the beginning, especially during his “whistleblower” phase, he is now under full control of those responsible for his arrest in August.

I could say a lot more, but I’ll keep it brief with these key points:

1. After I led the media push that forced the police to formally charge him rather than detain him indefinitely at the FCID, he attempted to ensnare me in a scheme that could have ruined my reputation and led to serious legal consequences. I don’t trust anyone, so I recorded the entire 54-minute phone call where he tried to entrap me. I’ve shared a 6-minute clip of it here, and another well-known figure was also part of the call—she can identify herself if she chooses.

2. The number he used to make the call is shown in the second frame. He also used this number to contact various supporters while in Kuje Prison. A contact of mine ran this number through the national SIM registration database, and it turns out it’s registered to one Hassan Jibrin, a Director at the Federal Ministry of Defense. Though I’ve blocked it, I suspect he still uses this number to reach out and potentially scam others, as he attempted with me.

Whether “Hassan Jibrin” is a real person or not is irrelevant. What’s clear is that when a person facing serious national security charges is imprisoned but still manages to make calls from a government facility, and then uses those calls to try to involve others in illegal activities, it’s evident that someone is pulling the strings behind the scenes. It’s likely that his deal for freedom involved betraying those around him, possibly even offering up my name in exchange for his own release.

3. Speaking of betrayal, I may release the full recording where he viciously criticized Deji Adeyanju, the lawyer who represented him pro bono. He called Deji a “baby lawyer” and claimed that someone had told him Peter Obi would hire senior lawyers (SANs) for him. After being released on bail by the same Deji, he publicly acted as though nothing had happened, even embracing him in court.

There’s also the matter of so-called “traitors” who, after being caught for their alleged public interest work, turn on everyone who helped them. The biggest traitor of 2024 is someone who got caught in their own lies, was detained, and then tried to manipulate his own family to use me in a plot that could have made me an accessory to a crime, had things gone wrong.

I kept quiet since September, thinking it wasn’t my place to expose this Pidom scam, but now that he’s crossed a line, I’m more than happy to set the record straight.

One final point: It turns out the entire “Pidom” persona was just a scam to fleece the public under the guise of whistleblowing. A man from Port Harcourt saw the crowdfunding success of my work and thought, “How can I get in on this?” So he created the Pidom brand, portraying himself as an investigative journalist who would demand money from Nigerians on a regular basis.

“Pidom” was always a content creator running a well-crafted gimmick. Initially, I ignored him because his work seemed amateurish and his constant demands for money felt off. Eventually, the scam grew successful enough that he genuinely started believing he was Nigeria’s version of Che Guevara. But this is where he made his mistakes, like sharing personal bank details and using the same POS terminal for all his withdrawals.

Now, even though he’s out of prison, he’s essentially trapped. He can’t leave Abuja, and I hope the money and attention were worth it, though, in truth, crowdfunding in Nigeria doesn’t generate nearly as much as people think. I’d know.
