Details of How Tinubu Advocates for China-Africa Partnership to Drive Global Prosperity

During the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of global collaboration for achieving shared progress and prosperity.

In his address at the Great Hall of the People, Tinubu hailed the China-Africa partnership as a benchmark for sustainable development and mutual prosperity. He lauded the initiative for its visionary approach and its potential to foster significant growth for both regions.

Tinubu stressed that addressing global challenges requires cooperative efforts, noting that the China-Africa partnership is built on trust, respect, and a shared vision. He expressed confidence that this collaboration will continue to yield benefits, driven by a united vision for the future.

He stated, “The success of FOCAC shows that global progress is not a zero-sum game. By working together and seeking win-win solutions, we pave the way for sustainable development and shared success. Our joint efforts reinforce the idea of a multi-polar world, where diverse perspectives are valued and cooperation is essential for overcoming global challenges.”

Highlighting the enduring strength of the partnership, Tinubu acknowledged China’s significant contributions to Africa, including financial aid, development projects, and cultural exchanges since FOCAC’s inception in 2000. He praised the solid economic relationship, noting that trade between Africa and China has reached approximately $280 billion.
President Xi Jinping also announced a $50 billion aid package for Africa and additional military support. Xi outlined ten key actions to be implemented over the next three years, including initiatives in trade, industrial cooperation, infrastructure, health, and green development. China will provide RMB360 billion yuan in financial support to facilitate these actions, including credit lines, aid, and investments.
Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening China-Africa relations and working together towards a new era of global peace and progress.
