Doctor Allegedly Offers Two Goats as Compensation to Ex-Girlfriend After Breakup

Dr. Tonderai Chiwawa, a medical officer from Bindura District, has sparked a social media frenzy after reports emerged that he offered two goats as compensation to his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Karen Tandanguni, following their breakup.
The controversy intensified when Karen, 25, took the matter to a traditional court, accusing the married doctor of mistreatment. She claims their relationship began in November 2022, with Dr. Chiwawa allegedly promising to marry her and introducing her to some of his family members. However, Karen said she was warned by his relatives about his history of three marriages and several children. After the breakup, Karen stated that Dr. Chiwawa gave her two goats as compensation, which she rejected, considering the gesture an insult.
The situation became even more serious when Karen accused Dr. Chiwawa of pressuring her to terminate her pregnancy and threatening harm if she chose to keep the child. “I am afraid for my life because he said he would hurt me if I didn’t end the pregnancy,” she revealed.
In response, Karen reported the incident to the Bindura Police, filing a theft complaint after her phone, which contained evidence of incriminating messages, was stolen. The matter is scheduled for a hearing before Chief Masembura on January 19.
Dr. Chiwawa, however, has denied the allegations, stating that he barely knows Karen and dismissing her claims as an attempt to damage his reputation. “I only know her from the neighborhood, and I don’t care about what she says. She’s just trying to ruin my name,” he marked.
