Edo: Four Dead in New Cult Clashes

At least four individuals have been reported dead following the resurgence of cult clashes in Edo State.

Sources indicate that the fatalities occurred in Benin City and Auchi during violent confrontations between rival cult groups vying for dominance.

Among the deceased is a student from Auchi Polytechnic, who was killed near Campus One Gate. The other victims were found at various locations within Benin City.

Reports suggest that two of the victims were shot on Thursday in the Ogheghe area along the Benin-Sapele road, while the fourth was killed early Friday morning at Ikpoba Slope on Akpakpava Road.

An anonymous source revealed that the two individuals killed on Thursday were targeted and followed by a rival cult group, who then shot them on sight. The individual killed at Ikpoba Slope was reportedly shot in the head while waiting for transportation.

The recent violence is believed to be a series of retaliatory attacks by cult groups seeking vengeance for members lost in previous conflicts.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incidents and stated that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the killings.
