EFCC Reacts to Claims of $800M, ₦700bn Cash, and Drugs Found at Bello El-Rufai’s Home

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports claiming that it uncovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and drugs worth ₦1 trillion at the residence of Bello El-Rufai, the eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
In a brief statement released on Thursday via its official Facebook page, the EFCC described the reports as entirely false, stressing that the information circulating about the discovery was misleading.
The clarification follows widespread rumors suggesting that the EFCC had found large sums of money and illicit drugs at Bello El-Rufai’s Kaduna home. The anti-corruption agency urged the public to ignore these unverified claims, stating:
“The report titled ‘EFCC Discovers $800 Million, ₦700 Billion Cash, and ₦1 Trillion Worth of Drugs at Nasir El-Rufai’s Son’s House in Kaduna’ is completely false. We urge everyone to disregard this narrative.”
Bello El-Rufai also publicly rejected the speculations, confirming that no such discoveries were made at his residence.
