Emir of Kano: Fulani Have Suffered Heavy Attacks, Isolation, Killing

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has pledged to tackle the ongoing crisis affecting the Fulani community in Nigeria, seeking to offer a long-term resolution to the issues they face.

During a meeting with the leadership of the Fulani group Tapital Pulaku Njode Jam Nigeria, led by Modibbo Jada, Emir Sanusi highlighted the urgency of finding a sustainable solution to the Fulani crises. He emphasized that such a solution requires full support from the Federal Government to be effectively implemented.

Sanusi remarked, “The Fulani community has endured severe attacks, isolation, killings, and destruction, alongside incidents of cattle rustling. These challenges are widespread and must be addressed. While it is true that some individuals within the Fulani community have contributed to these problems, it is crucial to develop comprehensive solutions that address both the conflicts with farmers and other associated crimes.”

He offered his readiness to work alongside the government to bring about peace and prosperity for the Fulani people and the broader Nigerian populace. “The suffering of the Fulani must end, and I am committed to helping the government achieve this goal,” he added.

Madibo Jada, the leader of the Fulani group, expressed their allegiance to Emir Sanusi, acknowledging his longstanding role as their leader appointed by the Lamido of Adamawa. Jada noted the extensive presence of their members across Nigeria, emphasizing their belief in Emir Sanusi’s ability to restore their reputation and highlight their contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
