Abbas Sani Abbas, the former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, has officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his dismissal by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Mr. Abbas, along with five other commissioners, was recently removed from his position as part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at reinforcing the state government.

The announcement of his move to the APC was made during a visit to key party leaders in Kano, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin. In a post shared on Facebook, Mr. Jibrin confirmed Mr. Abbas’ defection, saying: “I welcomed Hon. Abbas Sani Abbas into our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), today.”

Mr. Jibrin highlighted Mr. Abbas’ contributions as the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development and praised his commitment to grassroots engagement. He expressed confidence in Mr. Abbas’ future contributions to the APC.

Accompanied by Kano APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, and other party officials, Jibrin warmly received Mr. Abbas, offering full support as they work together to improve the lives of the people of Kano and Nigeria at large.
