Federal Government Places Diaspora Sponsors of #EndBadGovernance Protests into Watchlist

The Federal Government has announced that it is closely monitoring diaspora sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests, placing them on a watchlist for arrest upon their return to Nigeria.

Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, revealed this during a security briefing led by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Nandap confirmed that these sponsors are under surveillance, stating, “We have identified diaspora sponsors who are now on our watchlist. Any attempt by them to enter Nigeria will trigger immediate notification, leading to their arrest and subsequent handover to the relevant authorities.”

To bolster security, Nandap announced the deployment of additional officers to border points and airports, enhancing monitoring efforts to prevent foreign interference.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Bichi, Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), disclosed that the agency has identified some sponsors but withheld further details. Represented by spokesperson Dr. Peter Afunanya, Bichi also mentioned that certain accounts linked to these sponsors have been blocked, with ongoing monitoring of individuals residing abroad.
