FRSC Returns ₦3.7m Found at Kaduna Crash Site to Victims
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has returned the sum of ₦3.7 million recovered at the scene of a road crash in Kaduna State to the victims involved in the accident, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to integrity and professionalism in the discharge of its duties.
According to the Corps, the money was discovered by FRSC personnel who responded to the crash after receiving a distress call from motorists and residents in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, the officials carried out rescue operations and also secured valuables belonging to the victims to prevent them from being lost or stolen.
During the rescue exercise, officers found a bag containing ₦3.7 million among the belongings scattered at the accident scene. Rather than leaving the cash unattended, the officials documented the recovery and ensured it was safely kept while efforts were made to trace its rightful owners.
The victims, who were involved in the accident and later taken for medical attention, were contacted after the money was properly verified. The FRSC subsequently handed over the entire amount to them in the presence of witnesses and relevant authorities.
Officials of the Corps noted that the gesture reflects the agency’s core values of honesty, accountability and service to the public. They stressed that road safety personnel are trained not only to respond swiftly to emergencies but also to protect the lives and property of road users.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the FRSC officers for their honesty, describing the act as commendable and reassuring in a time when trust in public institutions is often tested. They said the returned money would help them recover from the trauma and financial strain caused by the crash.
The FRSC urged motorists to always comply with traffic regulations and drive responsibly to reduce the risk of road accidents. The Corps also reassured Nigerians that its personnel remain committed to professionalism, transparency and the protection of lives and property on the nation’s highways.
