Hon. Oluwole Oke’s Aide Fires Back at Pelumi Olajengbesi, Warns ACCORD Against Politicizing Aderogba’s Death

The attention of the Office of the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has been drawn to a statement issued by the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) and signed by Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi concerning the tragic death of Ajayi Aderogba.
Ordinarily, we would have refrained from further joining issues on a matter involving the painful loss of a young life, especially with the show of shame displayed by the sitting Governor, his Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke in Esa-Oke yesterday.
However, the reckless attempt to politicize this unfortunate incident and prematurely assign guilt compels a response in the interest of truth, justice, and public order.
First and foremost, we reiterate our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and community of the late Ajayi Aderogba. Every life is precious, and any violent death is a tragedy that deserves a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation.
It is therefore deeply troubling that, rather than allow the relevant security agencies to carry out their constitutional responsibilities, the Imole Campaign Council has chosen to assume the role of investigator, prosecutor, judge, and jury by publicly indicting individuals who have neither been formally charged nor convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction.
Nigeria remains a constitutionally democratic nation governed by the rule of law, not by political declarations, media trials, or emotionally charged propaganda. The attempt to pressure public opinion through unverified allegations is not only irresponsible but also capable of undermining ongoing investigations and inflaming tensions within our communities.
We find it particularly curious that Mr. Olajengbesi would demand that Hon. Oluwole Oke “produce” an individual in relation to allegations that remain under active investigation. Hon. Oke is neither a law enforcement agency nor a judicial authority. It is therefore unreasonable and mischievous to suggest that he should perform functions exclusively reserved for security institutions.
If the authors of the statement possess credible evidence relating to the incident, the appropriate and lawful course of action is to present such evidence to the police and other relevant security agencies. Public grandstanding and sensational accusations cannot substitute for due process.
Equally disturbing is the attempt to insinuate complicity on the part of Hon. Oluwole Oke merely because allegations have been made against an individual purportedly associated with him. Such insinuations are premature, malicious, and clearly designed to score cheap political points from a tragic occurrence.
At a time when responsible leaders should be promoting calm, restraint, and confidence in the justice system, it is regrettable that some political actors have chosen the path of provocation and sensationalism. The death of Ajayi Aderogba is not a campaign issue. It is not a tool for political blackmail. Neither should it be exploited to generate headlines or advance partisan narratives.
Hon. Oluwole Oke remains unwavering in his commitment to peace, justice, and the security of all residents of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and Osun State at large. He has no reason whatsoever to shield any individual found culpable of criminal conduct. However, he firmly believes that every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation, is entitled to the presumption of innocence and the protection of due process under the law.
We therefore call on the Osun State Police Command and all relevant security agencies to conduct a comprehensive, transparent, and unbiased investigation devoid of political interference, media pressure, or partisan influence.
Those responsible for the death of Ajayi Aderogba must be identified and brought to justice. However, justice can only be achieved through facts, evidence, and lawful procedures not through reckless accusations, political opportunism, or the desperate pursuit of public attention.
