At least 25 people, predominantly women and children, were kidnapped by terrorists disguised in hijabs in the Runka community of Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Safana is one of the regions severely affected by the activities of these criminals.
Sources reveal that the attackers invaded the community late Saturday night, firing shots into the air to frighten and subdue residents.
A local leader told the FIRST CLASS GISTS over the phone that the terrorists went from house to house, abducting residents and taking them into the nearby Rugu Forest. One individual sustained injuries during the raid and was hospitalized.
The incident was confirmed by the local government chairman, Abdullahi Sani Safana. However, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident.
“I will provide details once I receive the briefing,” Sadiq told our correspondent.
Additional reports indicated that the Divisional Police Officer in the area had dispatched a team to enhance security and assist in rescue operations.
A source from the Joint Task Force (JTF) suggested insider involvement in the attack. “Given the execution of the operation, it’s likely informants facilitated this terror attack and kidnapping,” the source told The FIRST CLASS GISTS.
