How Landlord Dies After Dispute with Tenant Over Unpaid Rent
Benjamin Apeh, a landlord, tragically died after collapsing during an argument with his tenant over unpaid rent.
The incident took place on Sunday in Arigbabu Village, Sotubo, located in the Sagamu local government area of Ogun State. The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the occurrence.
According to Odutola, the case was reported as a suspected murder on Monday at 5:00 p.m. by Precious Apeh, the daughter of the deceased. She told the police that her father had an altercation with the tenant at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday about overdue rent. The dispute continued early Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m., during which the tenant allegedly threatened to kill her father.
Apeh collapsed during the argument and was taken to NNPC Hospital in Mosimi, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. The tenant fled the scene, but police are actively searching for the suspect.
The body of Benjamin Apeh has been transported to the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu.
