How Missing Lady was Found Dead in Her Asaba Apartment
A woman identified as Lucy, who had been missing since January 5, was discovered dead in her apartment along NNPC Road in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
The discovery was made by a colleague from her workplace, according to a post shared on Facebook by Harrison Gwamnishu, the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and Youth Mobilization to the Delta State Governor. The colleague had been sent to check on Lucy after she failed to show up for work and her phone remained unreachable.
Upon arriving at her apartment, the colleague found the door locked, prompting them to look through the window. There, they were horrified to spot Lucy’s lifeless body lying on the floor. The discovery led to a public alert, drawing attention to the tragic scene.
Gwamnishu provided further details, explaining that when the colleague peered through the window, they saw Lucy’s body, naked and covered in blood. Marks were found on her body, and her finger was reportedly pierced by a knife, while strands of her hair were scattered on the floor, suggesting she had struggled before her death.
“The workplace began searching for her after she was absent on January 5,” Gwamnishu shared. “When they couldn’t reach her, they sent someone to her apartment. The individual saw the body through the window, leading to the discovery of her murder.”
The Senior Special Assistant called on the Delta State Police to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that those responsible for Lucy’s death are held accountable. He also urged the public, particularly women, to take any threats seriously and report them to the authorities immediately.
“We don’t yet know who is behind Lucy’s death, but we trust the police will carry out a thorough investigation,” Gwamnishu said. “If anyone is threatening your life, don’t hesitate to report it. Please reach out to me if you’re in danger.”
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation was underway. “Confirmed, and investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said.
