How Peter Obi Clarifies what you don’t know about the Obidient Movement’s Political Affiliation
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has stated that members of the Obidient Movement are spread across various political parties.
Obi made this clarification following the recent decision to establish a directorate for the Obidient Movement.
Posting on his X platform, Obi wrote: “I want to clearly state that the Obidient Movement is not a directorate within any specific political party. Anyone claiming leadership of this non-existent directorate is not part of the larger Obidient Movement.
“There may be youth mobilization directorates within political parties, but the Obidient Movement extends beyond any single political party. It is a broad and inclusive coalition that transcends traditional political, religious, and ethnic divisions.
“The movement is not confined to any particular party or located in a specific part of the country. Its members come from all over Africa and the world, representing various backgrounds, including rural areas, and public, private, and corporate sectors, all united by a vision for a new and better Nigeria. The Obidient Movement is driven by the principles of adaptive and transformative change, progress, discipline, and democratic values, advocating for fairness, equity, inclusivity, and justice.
“We are dedicated to accountable and responsible governance. Our members are committed to contributing to a better future for Nigeria through the New Nigeria project, grounded in loyalty, integrity, and democratic values. The Obidient Movement aims to foster positive change through a commitment to integrity, honesty, and accountability, rejecting deceitful behaviors.
“We are a beacon of hope for a reimagined Nigeria, where leadership is rooted in character, capacity, competence, compassion, and the well-being of all citizens.
“Let this serve as a clarification that the Obidient Movement operates independently of any political party, and its membership is not confined to any particular affiliation.
“Our focus remains steadfast on driving positive change and promoting a New Nigeria for all. This is our identity and will remain so for all time.”
