Nyesom Wike Reaffirms Commitment to PDP Amidst Political Challenges

Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, has asserted his intention to remain with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike emphasized his commitment to the party and his readiness to face any political obstacles, describing his critics as “vampires.”
Wike firmly rejected speculation that he might join the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing his preference for transparency in his political decisions. He affirmed his resolve to stay with the PDP and to advocate for his principles within the party.
“I am not one to shy away from confrontation,” Wike declared. “I will remain in the PDP and confront any challenges head-on. Why should I retreat from my principles? To whom should I flee—these so-called vampires?”
He further clarified, “If I had intended to join the APC, I would have done so openly. During my time with the PDP, I made it clear that I would not support their presidential candidate, and I adhered to that position.”
Wike also addressed criticisms regarding his loyalty, suggesting that his detractors lack the integrity he values. “People should stand for something. Integrity matters. Those who are criticizing me are simply intimidated by my presence,” he concluded.
