ICPC Collaborates with State Attorney Generals to Combat Corruption
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Attorney Generals and Commissioners of Justice from all 36 states have agreed to form a strategic alliance to address corruption in Nigeria.
This partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit by the state Attorney Generals and Commissioners of Justice to ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare announced the development in a statement released on Tuesday.
In the statement, Chairman Aliyu emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that the state Attorney Generals are crucial partners in the nation’s anti-corruption efforts.
Bakare quoted Dr. Aliyu, saying, “The commission is prepared to establish a Memorandum of Understanding with the Attorney Generals of all states to ensure effective cooperation in combating corruption.”
Before his current role, Chairman Aliyu served as the Attorney General of Jigawa State and was an active member of the ICPC.
He assured the visiting Attorney Generals of the commission’s commitment to providing the necessary support and resources for this joint effort.
Dr. Ben Odoh, Chairman of the State Attorney Generals’ body, congratulated Aliyu on his appointment as ICPC Chairman. He praised Aliyu’s impeccable track record and pledged that the state Attorney Generals would act as his representatives in their respective states to support the anti-corruption mission.
