Kogi Secures Federal Approval for International Airport Construction

The Kogi State Government has announced that it has received federal approval to construct an International Airport in Zariagi, close to Lokoja.
According to Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, this authorization was granted by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. The official notification was sent to the state government in a letter dated October 9.
Fanwo emphasized that the administration of Alhaji Usman Ododo is committed to completing the project on time while adhering to all regulatory standards. He noted that the new airport would serve not only Kogi but also ten neighboring states, alleviating traffic congestion on the Lokoja-Abuja road and reducing pressure on the Abuja International Airport.
“This project is a priority for Gov. Ododo’s administration, aiming to establish Kogi as a key player in the aviation sector,” Fanwo stated. He highlighted the strategic location of the state as a significant asset for tapping into the aviation market.
The airport is expected to enhance the state’s economy, create jobs, and elevate Kogi’s profile on the global stage. Fanwo also mentioned that the governor is dedicated to enlisting top industry experts to ensure the project’s success, underscoring the importance of trust and standards in the aviation sector.
