Lagos Opens Doors for Fresh Graduates with Paid Internship Programme

The Lagos State Government has officially opened registration for its Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP), a strategic initiative aimed at equipping fresh graduates with practical experience and enhancing their employability in the workforce.
According to a post on the state government’s official X handle on Friday, the fully state-funded programme provides participants with a stipend, professional mentorship, and targeted training in soft skills and workplace etiquette.
“The Graduate Internship Placement Programme is designed to give graduates hands-on experience, mentorship, and the professional skills employers value most,” the post said. “Fresh graduates, this is your chance to gain practical experience in your chosen field. Registration closes on April 10, 2026, and is open to new applicants only.”
Participants of the programme will be guided throughout their placement, developing both technical expertise and professional competencies essential for career advancement. The initiative is part of the state’s broader efforts to tackle graduate unemployment and cultivate a skilled, workplace-ready talent pool.
Speaking on the goals of the programme, a Lagos State official emphasized that the initiative is more than just an internship. “Graduates should leave this programme with practical knowledge, improved soft skills, and real-world experience that will prepare them to thrive in any professional environment,” the official said, as reported by The Guardian Nigeria.
The government has encouraged interested graduates to apply promptly to benefit from the mentorship, career guidance, and stipends offered through GIPP, underscoring the importance of timely registration before the April 10 deadline.
For updates and further information, graduates are advised to follow the state’s official communication channels on social media, including X and the Lagos State Government website.
