LP Leader Joseph Blames Peter Obi for Party Turmoil

A prominent figure in the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Abayomi Joseph, has pointed fingers at the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as being a key factor in the internal crisis currently rocking the party.
In a statement released to journalists on Friday, Joseph expressed deep concern over what he described as Obi’s “silence and passive leadership,” which he claims has worsened the divisions within the LP. He criticized Obi for distancing himself from the party’s core structures after the 2023 general elections, thereby leaving a vacuum that has fueled infighting and factionalism.

Joseph, a long-standing party stalwart, insisted that Obi’s failure to take a clear stand on ongoing issues, including disputes over the legitimacy of the national executive committee, has emboldened power struggles within the party ranks.
