Man Arrested for Human Skull for ritual in Ogun State

Akinyemi

Operatives from the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a man suspected of exhuming and beheading a corpse for ritualistic purposes in the Car Wash area of the state.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the suspect, identified as Lekan Akinyemi, was detained on Monday following a report from a local resident regarding suspicious activity at a grave site.

Nojeem Balogun, the resident who reported the incident, discovered that his father’s grave had been tampered with and the head of the corpse had been removed. Balogun immediately notified the police, prompting swift action from officers of the Adatan Division, who subsequently arrested Akinyemi.

Odutola explained, “Nojeem Balogun, who lives near Iyana Cele Car Wash in Abeokuta, reported to the police station on June 23, 2024, at around 0800 hours, that his sibling had noticed unusual activities at their late father’s grave in Isale Itoko, Abeokuta. Upon investigation, they found the head of their father’s corpse missing. Further inquiries led to the arrest of Lekan Akinyemi, who was discovered at the scene.”

Akinyemi was apprehended in the act, and the case is being transferred to the Anti-Robbery unit for further investigation before moving to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Odutola reassured the public of the police command’s dedication to addressing and preventing crime in the state. The suspect will face prosecution following the completion of the investigation.
