Military Dares Asari Dokubo: Step onto the Battlefield and Face Our Might!

The Defence Headquarters has issued a challenge to former militant leader Asari Dokubo, inviting him to the battlefield to witness the military’s capabilities firsthand. This comes in response to Dokubo’s recent threat to shoot down a military helicopter near his residence, claiming he could withstand the Nigerian military.
Maj Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, reacted to Dokubo’s bold assertions, urging him to enter the battlefield to see if he could truly contend with the armed forces. He also stated that if Dokubo were to appear, he would be neutralized, emphasizing that the appropriate security agencies should handle the situation.
Buba remarked, “The idea that he could shoot down military helicopters is laughable. While we are professionals in a democracy, we must respond thoughtfully to such comments to avoid appearing undemocratic.”
He clarified that the military is not the sole security force in the country, highlighting that other agencies have crucial roles to play in addressing security challenges.
While expressing confidence in the military’s abilities, Buba noted that the primary focus remains on combating terrorism. “Our enemies are terrorists. Regardless of the names given to them in different regions, they are all terrorists. We are committed to targeting their leadership and have successfully eliminated over 300 terrorist commanders in the past nine months,” he stated.
Buba concluded by emphasizing the military’s goal to weaken the operational capabilities of these groups, highlighting the progress made in recovering weapons and ammunition during their
operations.
