Monarch calls for compulsory drugs test on public office holders

FCGs reports that the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has called on governments at all levels to enact new laws for mandatory drug tests on anyone vying for public office in the country.

FCGs gathered that the Emir made the call while speaking at a one-day symposium on drug abuse and moral decadence held at the New Education Theater at Northwest University.

The emir emphasized the government’s need to combat drug abuse, including substances like zakami, gadagi, and Tramol, among others.

He expressed dismay at the rampant cases of drug abuse involving holders of public offices in the country.

“Governments at all levels should enact new laws against drug abuse and subject anyone vying for public office to mandatory drug tests” the emir stated.

Meanwhile, the emir has called on the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC to as a matter of urgency deploy more personnel to curb reckless driving in the Kano metropolis.

He made the call when he received the newly introduced Sector Commander of Kano State, Ibrahim Sallau Abdullahi, at his palace on Wednesday.

He urged the residents to strictly adhere to rules and regulations, thus bolstering safety and protecting lives and properties.
