Nnamdi Kanu Demands Justice Nyako Step Down from His Case; Give Reasons

In a recent court session, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, asked Justice Binta Nyako to remove herself from his trial, claiming she hasn’t followed Supreme Court orders. He made his request during the open hearing.
Justice Nyako responded that she would gladly recuse herself and would send the case back to the chief judge for reassignment.
Kanu insisted that his lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, stay seated while he addressed the court directly. He pointed out the Supreme Court’s ruling questioning the jurisdiction of his case, especially concerning an alleged broadcast.
Kanu also read sections of the Supreme Court’s decision that mentioned possible bias from Justice Nyako. He has been in custody since his 2021 arrest in Kenya and faces terrorism charges. Despite pleading not guilty, he has been denied bail, as Justice Nyako cited his previous bail jump with Senator Abaribe as a concern. He remains in the custody of the Department of State Services under a Federal High Court order in Abuja.
