Ogun State: Alleged Kidnap Kingpin Caught Posing as Soldier

A suspected leader of a kidnapping gang, identified as Wasiu Oloyede, was apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command on Sunday in the Odo Pako area of Ota.
Authorities suspect Oloyede to be the brains behind a recent abduction case in Alagbado, Lagos, where a serving military officer was kidnapped. During the incident, the abductors reportedly stripped the soldier of his uniform, ID card, ATM cards, and phone. Fortunately, the victim later managed to escape captivity.
In a bold attempt to evade detection, Oloyede allegedly put on the stolen military uniform and approached a local vigilante in disguise. During the encounter, he is said to have tried to snatch the vigilante’s dane gun.
However, the situation quickly turned against him when the vigilant operative raised an alarm. Police arrived promptly and arrested the suspect at the scene.
Investigations are currently underway to trace and arrest other members of the criminal group. Oloyede is being held in custody as security forces continue efforts to dismantle the gang’s oper
ations.
