Operation Whirl Punch: Airstrikes Eliminate 28 Suspected Terrorists in Niger State

On Wednesday, the air component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully neutralized 28 suspected terrorists in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. This update was provided by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Capt. Kabiru Ali, in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.
The mission was initiated following a request for air support from allied forces in Bassa. Upon arrival, NAF air assets identified over 100 terrorists engaged in combat with friendly forces. After confirming the positions of allied troops, the NAF executed precise airstrikes on the terrorists’ locations.
Ali reported, “The airstrikes were highly effective, resulting in the neutralization of many terrorists through successive strikes. As of the latest update, 28 bodies have been recovered from the site, with additional terrorists, weapons, and destroyed motorcycles still being cleared.”
This operation highlights the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to national security and its role in supporting other military and security agencies in the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminal activity.
