Oshiomhole Calls for Action Against Illegal Arms Ahead of Edo Governorship Election

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Governor of Edo State, has called on security agencies to take decisive action to remove illegal arms from Edo State in preparation for the upcoming governorship election on September 21. Speaking at an APC campaign event in Benin, Oshiomhole emphasized the need for a secure environment to ensure a transparent and violence-free election.
Addressing attendees in Oredo Local Government Area, Oshiomhole stated, “To achieve a free and fair governorship election, it is crucial for the security agencies to retrieve illegal weapons and ensure that voters can participate without intimidation. Reports have emerged of individuals being harassed while collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in areas such as Akoko-Edo and Orhionmwon. It is imperative that these issues are addressed promptly to safeguard the democratic process.”
Oshiomhole’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about election security and the importance of a peaceful electoral environment for the integrity of the democratic process.
