Osimhen Confident Lookman Will Be Next CAF Player of the Year

Victor Osimhen, the current CAF Player of the Year, has expressed full confidence that Ademola Lookman will be the next recipient of the prestigious award.
Osimhen, who ended a lengthy wait for a Nigerian player to be named Africa’s top footballer in December, believes Lookman is a strong contender for the 2024 accolade.
In a recent interview with the Dapoceo Podcast, Osimhen praised Lookman’s dedication and performance. “I’m absolutely certain that Ademola Lookman will win the African Player of the Year. He’s a passionate and diligent player, and he truly deserves this honor. I’ve told him he’s bringing it home, and I hope and pray that he will,” Osimhen said.
Osimhen also noted that Lookman’s success represents a significant achievement for Nigeria, highlighting his contribution to the team. “Seeing Ademola in this position makes me very happy. Knowing some of his journey, I believe he deserves every bit of recognition he gets because he’s an exceptional player and a great person.”
Notable Nigerian winners of the CAF Player of the Year award in the past include Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba, and Nwankwo Kanu.
