Osun Governor, Adeleke Suspends Aide Over Alleged Diversion of 70 Bags of Rice

Governor Ademola Adeleke has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Comrade Emmanuel Adebisi, following allegations that he diverted 70 bags of rice meant for a civil society coalition.

The coalition, represented by its Secretary, Comrade Olowu Emmanuel, reported that they never received the rice intended for them. Allegedly, Adebisi had collected the rice under the pretense of delivering it to the coalition but failed to do so.

Governor Adeleke’s decision to suspend Adebisi came in response to these accusations. Emmanuel stated, “Since the inception of this administration, we have not received any items meant for civil societies, including palliative measures to alleviate suffering.”

Despite the allegations, Adebisi denied the suspension on his verified Facebook page. He wrote, “The claims that I, Emmanuel Adebisi, have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false. I continue to serve as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State with unwavering commitment. Any insinuation of my involvement in the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun Civil Societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival is baseless and politically motivated. I challenge anyone with evidence to come forward.”

However, a statement released on Wednesday, July 3, by Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed Adebisi’s suspension. The Governor announced that the suspension would remain effective pending the outcome of an investigation led by his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye.

The statement read, “The Governor has directed the immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Comrade Emmanuel Adebisi, pending the results of an investigation by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Hon. Kazee

m Akinleye.”
