Osun NSCDC Arrests Ilesa Resident for Vandalizing Public Property
The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 40-year-old man, Jide Fadipe, for allegedly vandalizing public property. Fadipe, who resides in the Ilaje-Area of Ilesa, was detained for allegedly damaging a government primary school building in his neighborhood.
According to a statement from NSCDC Commandant Michael Adaralewa, Fadipe was apprehended after a concerned citizen reported the vandalism to the command. The informant alerted the NSCDC that individuals were removing iron sheets and other valuables from the school building.
In response, the command set up surveillance around the area to catch the perpetrators. On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Fadipe was spotted around 5 a.m. removing roofing sheets from the school. He transported the stolen items to his house and was later caught attempting to sell them to scrap metal buyers in Ilesa.
Commandant Adaralewa assured the public that Fadipe would face legal consequences to deter others from engaging in similar activities. He noted that Fadipe’s actions violated Section 451 of the Criminal Code Law Cap 34, Laws of Osun State, which penalizes willful and unlawful destruction or damage of property.
