Osun Police Arrest Nine Suspects in Connection with NSCDC Operative’s Killing

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended nine individuals in connection with a violent crisis over a kingship dispute in Araromi-Owu, Ayedade Local Government Area. This conflict resulted in the deaths of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operative and another person.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, involved the burning of the Araromi-Owu Palace, the destruction of several houses, and significant property damage. The violence erupted after a faction opposed the installation of a new king.

Police Public Relations Officer Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrests, stating, “We have arrested nine people in connection with the crisis in Orile-Owu and Araromi-Owu.”

In a related development, the Olowu of Orile-Owu, Oba Dauda Akinfalabi, through his lawyer Bola Adebowale, has petitioned the Commissioner of Police. He called for the arrest of those responsible for the attempted murder, unlawful installation of a king in Araromi-Owu, and actions likely to disturb the peace in the area.

The Osun State Police Command continues to investigate the situation to ensure justice and restore order in the affected communities.
