Panic as Female Passenger Dies in Lagos Tricycle
A woman, yet to be identified, died while riding in a tricycle (Keke Marwa) on Friday in the Isheri-Idimu area of Lagos State, causing widespread panic.
PUNCH Metro reports that the woman boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road, heading towards Isheri. Upon reaching her destination, the tricycle rider informed her of their arrival, but she did not respond. The rider soon realized she was motionless.
An eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the incident, stating, “I was near the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. When we approached, we saw a woman slumped over, unresponsive. The rider explained that she was supposed to alight at Isheri, the last stop, but she did not respond when prompted. That’s when he raised the alarm, and a crowd quickly gathered.”
Another eyewitness, identified simply as Sodiq, said efforts by residents to revive the woman were unsuccessful. “People tried their best to revive her, but it was in vain. The police arrived shortly after, and the crowd dispersed to avoid being implicated.”
Sodiq added that some speculated she might have been suffering from an ailment or could have had a heart attack.
The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, while the deceased was transported to an undisclosed hospital in the area.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered, and a text message had yet to be replied to at the time of filing this report.
