Pat Utomi: No One Over 70 Should Run for President or Governor

Political economist Prof. Pat Utomi has stated that anyone above 70 years old should not run for the positions of president or governor in Nigeria.
He made the comment on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, speaking about age and public office in the country.
Utomi said, “I believe the Nigerian people should understand that no one over 70 should occupy executive positions like governor or president. While some lawmakers can serve in the legislature into their 70s or even 80s, the presidency should not be held by someone who may need medical attention.”
He added, “Allowing this affects the quality of governance and comes at a high cost to taxpayers, who are not getting the services they deserve from their leaders.”
