Peter Obi Responds to Attack of LP Factional Chairman Abure’s, who call him Betrayal

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has addressed accusations of betrayal made against him by Barrister Julius Abure.

Daily Trust reports that during a recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Abure accused Obi and Dr. Alex Otti, the party’s only governor, of conspiring against him. Abure claimed they organized a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, where Mrs. Esther Nenadi Usman was appointed as chair of a 29-member caretaker committee to address the party’s internal crisis.

In response, Obi, through his spokesperson Comrade Ibrahim Umar, expressed disappointment at Abure’s accusations. Umar stated, “We are disappointed but not surprised by the false betrayal claims from Julius Abure, who is under pressure as the party’s national chairman. This appears to be a politically motivated attempt to mislead the public.”

Umar clarified that the Umuahia meeting was intended to resolve ongoing leadership issues and was not a personal attack. “The Obidient Movement supports the stakeholders’ decisions, which are focused on unity, justice, and transparency.”

He criticized Abure for misleading the public and defaming Obi’s character, questioning, “Why is he continuing to fight when his term ends in June? His actions suggest a desperation for power. It’s time for him to prioritize the party’s interests over personal gains. We urge Abure to accept the outcomes of the intervention by Peter Obi and Gov. Alex Otti, aimed at resolving misunderstandings and moving forward.”
