Police Arrest Osun Park Managers’ Chairman, Nurudeen Alowonle, Over Serious Charges

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Nurudeen Alowonle, the Chairman of the Osun Park Management System (OPMS). Alowonle, who was appointed to the position by Governor Ademola Adeleke, was detained in connection with multiple serious offenses.

Prince Aderemi, an aide to the former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, shared details of the arrest on social media, alleging that Alowonle faces charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and multiple murders. Aderemi further claimed that Alowonle had fired shots at police officers before his capture.

The second spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, ASP Giwa Alade Emmanuel, confirmed the arrest, stating that the case had been reported at the Oja Oba division. The Commissioner of Police subsequently directed the matter to the anti-kidnapping squad for further investigation. “The case is still under investigation,” he added.

According to Emmanuel, Alowonle and others were apprehended on Sunday near Ring Road in Osun, following a tip-off about their planned attack on a complainant. Despite putting up resistance, the suspects were overpowered by the police, who found a Beretta pistol during a search.

Alowonle is currently facing charges of illegal firearm possession, attempted murder, and malicious damage.
