Police Arrest Seven Suspects in Cattle Theft Operation in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested seven individuals suspected of being involved in cattle theft within the region.
Police spokesperson, Lawal Shiisu, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Dutse on Wednesday. According to Shiisu, two of the suspects were detained on Tuesday after a joint security operation involving the police and other agencies intercepted a vehicle transporting three stolen cows and 11 sheep in the Ringim area of Jigawa.
“On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, around 3 p.m., a combined team of police officers and other security personnel, while conducting a patrol at Kirdau village in Ringim, stopped a vehicle carrying three cows and 11 sheep. The driver and his assistant later admitted to having stolen the animals,” Shiisu said.
He further explained that during questioning, the pair identified five additional members of the cattle theft ring, who were subsequently arrested in the Unguwa Uku area of Kano state. All five suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime and are expected to face charges in court once the investigation is concluded, Shii
su added.
