The Lagos State Police Command has detained two officers involved in an unauthorized operation that resulted in the death of a civilian.

In a statement on Saturday, Command spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin reported that the officers, members of the State Taskforce, went on an illegal mission on Wednesday accompanied by some civilians.

According to Hundeyin, the unauthorized team was attacked by motorcycle riders, leading to the civilian’s death. The names and ranks of the detained officers were not disclosed.

Disciplinary proceedings have begun for the detained officers, while efforts are underway to locate their civilian accomplices. Investigations are in progress to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the incident.
