Police in Kaduna Arrest Notorious Bandit and Recover Ransom Money
The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious bandit, Abdulkarim Usman Maude, 33, from Tudun Wada Mariri in the Lere Local Government Area.
According to a statement by ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesman, Maude was apprehended on May 22, 2024, at 10 am, by the Divisional Police Officer of Saminaka Division based on credible intelligence. The arrest occurred in Upara Warsapiti, Lere Local Government Area.
Upon his arrest, Maude was found in possession of N347,000, a machete, and some criminal charms. During interrogation, he admitted to participating in kidnappings for ransom alongside Alhaji Yakubu and two others from Binchim Village, Bassa LGA, Plateau State.
The confiscated money was identified as Maude’s share of the ransom collected from the kidnapping of two tractor operators, Yau Balele, 45, and Lukman Abubakar, 40. These victims were abducted on May 17, 2024, while working on the farm of Alhaji Gambo and were later released on May 20, 2024, after being held in Binchim Hills, Bassa LGA, Plateau State.
Efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining accomplices. The suspect and the recovered items have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inve
stigation.
