Poverty is a Sign of Ungodliness, Says Pastor Korede Komaiya

Pastor Korede Komaiya, the Presiding Pastor of The Master’s Place International Church, has claimed that poverty is a manifestation of ungodliness.
During a sermon shared in a viral video on social media, Komaiya stated that according to scripture, those who follow and serve God will experience prosperity. He asserted, “Poverty is a sign of ungodliness. To be poor is to harbor sin in your life.”
He went on to challenge the common belief that wealth is often linked to sin, stating that people should “never trust the holiness of a poor person.” He explained that the perception of poor individuals as humble often stems from their lack of financial resources.
“The reason why poor people are often seen as humble is because they lack the means to do otherwise,” Komaiya explained. “You can’t afford luxuries like traveling to Dubai or keeping multiple partners because you simply don’t have the money.”
He further emphasized that true holiness is reflected in those who possess wealth yet remain devoted to God. “If you want to know someone’s true humility and godliness, observe how they act when they start having money.”
In his concluding remarks, he suggested that some individuals’ perceived holiness is merely a result of their financial limitations. “There are those of you who appear holy, but it’s because poverty has imposed it upon you,” Komaiya added.
