PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR THOROUGH REVIEW OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS’ GOVERNING BOARDS
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
President Bola Tinubu has mandated an extensive reassessment of the newly appointed governing boards for tertiary institutions across Nigeria, ahead of the planned inauguration and retreat for the appointees.
The Federal Ministry of Education recently disclosed the names of the appointed chairmen, Pro-Chancellors, and members of the boards and councils for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The inauguration and retreat for these appointees were scheduled for May 31.
Nevertheless, public feedback indicated discrepancies in the representation, with some states receiving only one nomination while others received multiple.
In response to the nationwide feedback, President Tinubu has instructed a thorough review of the governing councils’ membership list to ensure it aligns with the federal character principle enshrined in the constitution. The President is dedicated to upholding this principle, ensuring equitable representation from all regions of the country.
