Ebonyi University Final Year Student Allegedly Commits Suicide
The Ebonyi Police Command confirmed on Thursday that a final-year student at the state university in Abakaliki has allegedly taken her own life.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the student, Miss Favour Ugwuka, was found dead in her hostel room at the Ishieke campus on Wednesday.
Miss Ugwuka, a member of the English Department, had reportedly passed all her courses except for one which she failed multiple times.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide.
“The police are aware of the incident, and an investigation is underway to uncover the real cause of the alleged suicide,” Ukandu said. “The report came to us around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 22. We currently do not have any new updates but will provide more information as it becomes available.”
