Prominent Southwest Monarch and Four Others Remanded Over Alleged Arson Charges

Oba Muideen Azeez, the Elegbedi of Egbedi in Osun State, has been remanded in custody along with four others for alleged arson, illegal possession of firearms, and malicious destruction of farmland.
The Osun State High Court issued the remand order until the defendants meet their bail conditions.
Abiodun Badiora, the prosecuting attorney from the state Ministry of Justice, stated that the charges against the defendants violate several sections of the State Criminal Law of 2002.
Witness Mustafa Waheed testified that Azeez assaulted him when he attempted to arrest him with police officers for the damage done to his farm.
Following the proceedings, the court set bail at N5 million for each defendant, requiring two sureties per person. These sureties must be civil servants at grade level 16 or above and own property within the court’s jurisdiction.
As the defendants failed to fulfill their bail conditions, they were seen being transported in a vehicle belonging to the Nigerian Correctional Service on Thursday at 2:10 PM.
