Reasons Omokri Questions Peter Obi’s Silence on Kidnapping in Southeast

Omokri stated, “In 2024, the Southeast experienced the highest rates of kidnapping for ransom in Nigeria, as revealed by the analytical firm SMB Morgen. Anambra topped the list, followed by Imo, Abia, Enugu, and Ebonyi.

“However, it is curious that Peter Obi’s posts on the issue of kidnapping have mostly focused on the North, Southwest, and South-South regions, in that order. Despite the Southeast having the highest number of abductions, Obi’s comments on this issue are noticeably few.

“This raises a question: Why does Obi consistently speak out about kidnappings in other regions but barely acknowledge the problem in his own? When kidnappings occur in the North or Southwest, Obi is vocal and condemns it loudly, but when it happens in Igbo land, he remains silent or only offers a mild response, often after being prompted.

“Could this selective focus call into question his ability to govern a diverse and multi-ethnic nation like Nigeria? The answer is for you to decide.”
