Reasons Ondo APC may lose governor poll, group warns

A group of members of the All Progressives Congress in Diaspora have called on the national leadership of the party to intervene in the ongoing internal crisis rocking the party.

The fresh crisis came after the governorship primary of the party held in April across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The April 20 primary won by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has generated controversy as one of the contestants, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, approached the Federal High Court Abuja, seeking cancellation of the exercise and prayed for another election to be conducted.

To this end, the group called on the national leadership of the party to appeal to the aggrieved members and settle all legal matters out of court.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the APC Paris Chapter, Comrade Akintoye Ogundoju, and made available to our correspondent.

The group warned that if the internal crisis within the party was not resolved, it might affect the chance of the APC winning the main governorship election, coming up in November this year, hence the need for the matter to be resolved on time.

He said, “It is a fundamental fact that any issue that looks unclear to any party members must first of all be resolved within the party according to the constitution of the party. This issue was not brought to the level of the party but instead to the Federal High Court which in other words is an aberration and unpatriotic to the progress of the party.

“We urged the national body of the party to please as a matter of urgency intervene and settle the matter out of court since it is an internal matter.

“If the matter is not settled out of court early enough it may affect the prospect of APC come November 16. For anybody to be asking for the removal of APC on the ballot paper in the next coming election signifies evil, cruelty, and anti-party syndrome,” Ogundoju stated.
