Rhodes-Vivour Vows to Run for Lagos Governor in 2027, Urges Opposition Unity

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) has officially announced his intention to contest in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
GRV, who ran for governor under the Labour Party (LP) in 2023 but was defeated by the incumbent Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.
When asked if he would be joining the race again in 2027, Rhodes-Vivour affirmed, “By God’s grace, yes,” adding that his goal to become Lagos State’s governor remained strong.
However, he did not clarify whether he would again seek the LP ticket or switch to another political platform.
Rhodes-Vivour also stressed the importance of opposition unity, warning that without cooperation among opposition parties, a successful bid in 2027 would be difficult. “If all parties do not come together, it will be a waste of time running in 2027. There is a full state capture happening in the country now, and we cannot afford to remain divided,” he stated.
For now, Rhodes-Vivour’s focus is on strengthening the Labour Party to ensure it is a powerful force in the upcoming elections.
