The Nigerian Army’s operations, led by the Army Headquarters in Gusau, have been highly effective in combating terrorist elements in the region. Coordinated strikes in Talata Mafara and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas resulted in the neutralization of several high-profile terrorist figures.
According to a statement from Sulaiman Omale, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, soldiers from Combat Team-6 engaged a heavily armed terrorist group in Mai Kwanugga village, located in Talata Mafara. These terrorists had been terrorizing local residents, engaging in intimidation and setting homes ablaze.
During the operation, the military seized a large cache of weaponry, which included four AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, two RPG launchers, six RPG grenades, 28 rounds of specialized 7.62mm ammunition, and 43 rounds of PKT ammunition.
While the mission resulted in significant gains, the statement also noted that two civilians were unfortunately caught in the crossfire. The military continues its operations in the area to neutralize any remaining threats and prevent further attacks on the local population.
