See Locations Reveals by FG for Free Conversion of Petrol and Diesel-Powered Vehicles to CNG
Under the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), the Federal Government has announced locations where owners of petrol and diesel vehicles can convert to compressed natural gas (CNG) at no cost.
Michael Oluwagbemi, Chief Executive and Programme Director of P-CNGi, shared this development after finalizing contracts with various auto conversion companies. In a press briefing, Oluwagbemi highlighted that the initiative is designed to assist commercial transporters, including members of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), as well as ride-sharing companies.

According to national reports, NNPCL and NIPCO Gas have established a strategic partnership to expand the number of CNG stations across Nigeria as part of the Presidential CNG Initiative. Recently, twelve of the planned 35 CNG stations were inaugurated in Lagos and Abuja.
This initiative is part of the government’s response to the significant increase in fuel prices, which soared from N197 to N617 per litre following President Tinubu’s announcement on May 29 last year, resulting in higher transportation costs.
