See Reasons Lagos Protesters Cancel Rally

The Lagos Planning Committee for the #EndBadGovernance protests has decided to cancel today’s rally in response to ongoing violence against peaceful demonstrators. The attacks, reportedly carried out by suspected hoodlums, occurred under the apparent supervision of police forces.
Hassan Soweto, a Coordinator of the protest and member of the Youth Rights Campaign, announced the cancellation on ait.live this Tuesday morning.
Soweto claimed that after yesterday’s protest at the Ojota venue, miscreants assaulted protesters in the presence of the police, prompting the decision to cancel today’s event.
He expressed concern for the safety of protesters, stating, “We do not want to risk any further harm. The safety of innocent participants is our priority. The attacks by miscreants with the police observing are unacceptable. Today, we will focus on strategizing our next steps for the protest.”
