See Reasons Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission Removes Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Jatau
The Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has authorized the dismissal and demotion of Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Jatau, formerly stationed in Masaka, Nasarawa State.

Jatau has been reduced from his position as Chief Magistrate II (GL 15) to Senior Magistrate I (GL 14) and stripped of all judicial responsibilities.
This action follows a recommendation made by the Committee for Appointments, Promotions, and Discipline (CAPD).
The disciplinary measures were taken in response to a petition filed by Nigerian human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, in August 2024, addressed to the Honourable Chief Judge of Nasarawa State.
Effiong accused Jatau of engaging in judicial misconduct, forgery, abuse of power, and illegal activities.
He pointed out that the Magistrate Court in Masaka was using an official stamp from the Federal High Court (FHC) in Lagos, signed by an FHC staff member, M. Tofowomo-Adegbite (Mr.), and dated January 8, 2024.
