See Reasons NYSC want to Exclude HND Graduates from Service

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates from polytechnics and monotechnics who lack proof of completing the mandatory one-year Industrial Training (IT) will be ineligible for national service.

Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Coordinator in Lagos State, revealed this update during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
Baderinwa explained that a circular has been issued by the NYSC regarding this policy. She stated, “It has come to our attention that some polytechnic and monotechnic graduates are not completing the required one-year IT before enrolling in the HND program. Completion of this IT is a prerequisite for the HND. Graduates must provide evidence of this training before being admitted into the HND program, and institutions must verify this requirement.”
The new directive will be enforced starting from the upcoming orientation camp, where candidates without proof of IT completion will not be registered. Baderinwa emphasized that this policy aims to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system.
Prospective corps members with HND qualifications will need to present their IT completion certificates before they can be registered at any NYSC orientation camp.
