See the Number of Protesters that was Detained Amid EndBadGovernance Demonstrations

Amnesty International has revealed that more than 1,000 Nigerians who took part in recent nationwide protests against worsening hunger and mismanagement are currently imprisoned across the country.

The organization criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for responding to these peaceful protests with a harsh crackdown instead of tackling the economic issues contributing to widespread hunger.
According to Amnesty International, at least 632 protesters are detained in Kano State, with over 109 held in Sokoto. The group voiced concern over the mass arrests and urged the government to adopt a more constructive approach to address the issues raised by the demonstrators.
In a statement posted on social media, Amnesty International said: “Rather than addressing economic concerns, Nigerian authorities have chosen to suppress the protests. Over 1,000 individuals have been detained in response to demonstrations against hunger, with significant numbers held in Kano and Sokoto prisons.”
